This Sunday, Winchester City Flyers head home to the Charter Community Stadium for the first time in almost a year.
Last time at the ground saw the Flyers host Sunday’s opponents but they were known by a different name.
Sholing FC was Eastleigh in the Community, however, a name change and a move was on the cards for the club in the summer.
Now known as Sholing the Southampton based club will be hoping to do better than their 7th place finish from last season saw them finish on the same points as Winchester.
The Boatwomen currently sit fourth in the table and have yet to lose in all competitions.
They picked up important wins over Reading and Selsey while there were draws against Oxford City and Wycombe Wanderers.
Goals were hard to come by for Sholing last season but they have found their shooting boots this term including Catherine Browning who has nearly doubled her tally from last year.
Browning already has two hat-tricks coming in the Southampton Division FA Cup and the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.
Winchester head into Sunday’s encounter with a point on the board after having to settle for a point against AFC Portchester.
Annie Northwood twice put the Flyers in front but Portchester pegged the North Hampshire side back.
Eilidh Currie scored direct from a free-kick before her late corner took an unfortunate deflection off the knee of Lydia Moulding to find the back of the net.
Emma Pearmine will be hoping that her side can take last weekend’s point into this Sunday’s game and turn it into three.
With a couple of players picking up knocks against Portchester the manager will be looking to utilise all of her squad with 25 signed on and it’s now a chance for players to stamp a claim on a starting place.
While searching for a first league win Winchester will also be excited to play football back in the city and draw on the locals to back the team.
